So funny.
So blonde.

21 odd lbs (9.780kg).
And about 30″ tall (74.7cm)
Very inquisitive and dexterous.

Newest tricks.

1) Gurgling. Proper gurgling. Fills his mouth with water, pops his head back and gurgles. Hilarious!

2) Singing. Pavarotti gets him going. Yes. Seriously. We discovered this with all the death coverage of Luciano – they invariably show a singing clip. Every time this happens, Spike stops what he’s doing (our taxes, rebuilding a diesel engine etc…) and sings along. B discovered a week or so earlier while watching Letterman that Spike would sing/grunt along to a certain bit of classical music on the show. Very, very funny.

3) Fetching & Carrying. This is by far, my favourite trick so far. “Ta for Mumma.” Object identified, retrieved and delivered – quick sticks! No piss farting around, no sign here Ma’am, just carried carefully then hurled lovingly into my arms (or their approximate vicinity). It looks like I wont need that helper monkey, after all!

4) Running. Full tilt. Will still drop to the ground to crawl like a streak of blonde lightening if you say, “Look out!”.

He remains very much Daddy’s little suck up. I keep telling him, “Mumma loves you more than Daddy.” But it cuts no ice. He just wants to be near Daddy. He loves his books. My Goldfish Wish is in perpetual rotation. I keep trying to slip in more Milligan that lyrically, he loves but the book itself just isn’t colourful enough to warrant 15 reads in one go. Stupid fish!

First disaster.

1) He has chipped a tooth!!!!!!! It’s not MY fault, I’m not the one who taught him how to box (he always leaves his guard down. It’s like he doesn’t want to win.). He doesn’t seem bothered by it – he will still eat a suckling pig for breakfast then pony up for whatever I’m having. Poor little bugger! It’s really gonna hurt his resale value.

Oh well. Guess we’ll keep him after all.

He makes me crazy with his cuteness, his open mouthed kisses and his hilarious burping. The stomping and yelling. The subtle way he lets you know it’s time to read. [Throws a book at you and piles into your lap.]

11 months ago I thought he was never coming out. I’m glad he did. He’s gotten quite tall!
